As the sun dips below the horizon and the shadows lengthen, you find yourself standing before a weather-beaten chest, its iron bands rusted with age and its lid sealed tight with mysterious symbols and arcane sigils.


Legend has it that this is the fabled treasure chest of Captain Calico Jack himself, cursed by a vengeful siren who sought to punish the pirate for his many crimes against the sea. Now the curse lingers, trapping the treasure within its wooden confines and ensnaring all who dare to seek its riches.


But you are no ordinary treasure hunter. Armed with wits, courage, and a burning desire for adventure, you have come to break the curse and claim the treasure for yourself. With the clock ticking and the curse growing stronger with each passing moment, you must solve intricate puzzles, decipher cryptic clues, and unlock hidden chambers to reveal the secrets of the chest and break the siren's hold.


But beware, for the path to riches is fraught With only one hour to spare, you must outwit the forces of darkness and unlock the chest's secrets before it's too late. Both our Perth venues, CBD and Northbridge, are wheelchair accessible. We welcome adventurers of all abilities to join our crew and experience the thrill of our pirate escape rooms. However, please note that we can accommodate only one wheelchair per session to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

  • How difficult is this pirate escape room?

    Dead Man's Chest has a difficulty rating of 7/10. While it's not the most challenging escape room we offer, it's a very fast paced, tense experience!

  • Is Dead Man's Chest Wheelchair Accessible?

    Our locations in Perth CBD and Northbridge are both wheelchair accessible, however for safety reasons we can not allow more than one wheelchair per booking.

  • Do I need to play other pirate escape rooms before Pirates?

    While we recommend playing Pirates and Pirate Island first for narrative context, 

    Dead Man's Chest works perfectly fine on its own as a standalone experience, and it's not necessary to have played any of our other escape rooms to enjoy it.

  • Is Dead Man's Chest experience suitable for children?

    Absolutely! When accompanied by an adult, our Dead Man's Chest is suitable for children aged 12+, or children aged 9+ when accompanied by an adult.

  • How many people can play Dead Man's Chest at the same time?

    The maximum group size that our Dead Man's Chest escape experience can accomodate is 4 people. BUT, we are planning on making this a head-to-head gaem for up to 8 players very shortly.

  • Will our group be playing with strangers?

    At Escape This, all bookings are exclusive to your group. This has always been (and will remain to be) our policy before, during and after Covid.



    If you want to be locked in a room with a group of people you have never met before (some people do!) then we recommend you try another escape room experience provider.

  • How Long Does Dead Man's Chest Last?

    You will have 60 minutes to break the curse of the Dead Man's Chest and claim your treasure.


    However we recommend that you arrive 15 minutes before your start time for orientation and induction procedures. There will also be 15 minutes after the session to catch your breath and debrief.


    Depending on if and how quickly you complete the escape room, your entire session may go for 90 minutes, or it may be shorter.

  • Is Dead Man's Chest Suitable for First-Time Escapers?

    Absolutely! Dead Man's Chest is an excellent choice for first-time escapers who are eager to tackle a challenge head-on!
